Red-Ribboned Fu Dog

For those who don't know, the statue in the photo is a Fu Dog, which is a symbol of protection in Chinese culture. They come in pairs and are always placed at the entrance of buildings. The red-coloured ribbon is not usually part of the Fu Dog, but this particular one had the red-ribbon to coincide with the Chinese New Year celebrations.

There was actually an array of them hanging down from the ceiling, but I only picked one out and focused on it and the smoke it generated.

What a Gas!

These tanks are commonly used in Malaysia to supply gas for cooking. While it is very common in Malaysia to have a tank of gas or two in the home, this group of four tanks were seen at a local Chinese restaurant.
