good shot
Love to all.....
Great photo. I'm a newbie in photography and I want to ask you a question :)
How do you blur the background like that? The problem with many of my photos is that the background is too clearly visible, and it ruins the whole picture.
I'm sorry that I post as Anonymous. Unfortunately I can't post with my Google Account (for Blogger Beta). My photo blog is at http://helddown.blogspot.com/ (but there's almost nothing in it yet).
Dear anonymous,
My apologies for not replying earlier. I've been swamped by work. And thanks for dropping by. :)
I visited your blog and I must say you have some really cool shots. For some reason, I couldn't leave a comment though.
With regards to your question about blurring the background, there are essentially 3 ways to do it.
METHOD#1: Use a large aperture for a shallower depth-of-field. I believe you're using an A510, so you'll have to set your f-stop to f2.6. Unfortunately, the aperture on consumer cameras and DSLRs are different, hence you may not achieve the same results as a DSLR using the same f-number.
METHOD#2: A more effective way would be to stand back and zoom in on your subject. The photos I took were shot at 300mm. Your A510 has a maximum zoom of 4x, which equates to 140mm. So again, you may not get the exact same results.
METHOD#3: Cheat. Use Photoshop to alter your pictures. Hehehe. But of course, that takes the joy out of photography. *grin*
Thanks a lot for the tips, I only knew about the third one ;) I'll look into them in the next few weeks, while I'm reading the book "How to do everything with your digital camera".
P.S. You probably couldn't post a comment on my blog because you tried to post it with your Blogger account. My blog is 'Beta' and your acount is not 'Beta'. (There's nothing wrong with that, as Blogger Beta wasn't released yet.) They say they'll fix this soon, but until they do, if you see a 'Beta' blog and want to post a comment, you may use the 'Anonymous' or 'Other' posting option :)
That's what I do, anyway.
Thanks again. Have a nice day!
