Majestic
A view of part of the Marriot Hotel in Putrajaya. This angle allowed me to frame the building with trees and bushes planted beautifully on the hotel grounds. The building rising tall gives an impression of grandeur and might.

Rusty
Rusty has been with us since she was born. When she was a little kitten, she was weak and sickly. When she disappeared for a while, we thought the worst had happened. Her two siblings, Ash and Patch also disappeared, never to return.
But one dull morning, Rusty came back, skinny, wet, shivering and near death. My wife cared for the little kitten and patiently nursed her back to health.
Ever since then, she visits us everyday for food ... and the occasional scratch behind the ears.

Star LRT
I was on a walkabout in Taman Bukit Komanwel (Commonwealth Hill Park) and stumbled upon the Star LRT (Light Rail Transit) tracks running through. I posted myself on a hillside and waited for the next train to come by. The idea was to practice "panning" my shots on moving objects to get a blurred effect on the background while maintaining sharpness on the subject itself.
It's no easy task for a beginner like me, but so far I've seen some improvements after lots of practice. It's not perfect...but I'm slowly getting there. :)

Blue Cap
My wife and I went out on a "walkabout" (basically moving around on foot with the specific intention of shooting photos of anything and everything). I shot this blurry image of her wearing my favourite blue cap as we were returning to the car (and fantasising of iced Coca-Cola).
I took advantage of the blurred effect and bumped up the saturation to give it a slightly more artistic appeal.
P.S. Castrol didn't sponsor me for this photo, though I think they should. *chuckle*

Deserted Underground Railway
A deserted underground railway station in Kuala Lumpur. In actual fact, this station is anything but deserted. It just happens to be very big, and the trains almost always stop at one end of the station. Hence, the remainder of the area is usually very quiet.

1915
This post and the previous post are images of the same object. It is an old mechanical counter that I inherited from my grandfather. It still works (although a little kooky).

The Dial
I learnt something interesting recently. It is called the "poor man's macro lens". In order to get a really close focus on an object, I merely had to remove my lens and flip it around. Holding the lens against the camera body, I moved forwards and backwards until I got the object in focus, then released the shutter.
The problem with this lens-flipping technique is lighting. Very little light passes through the lens, but I managed to solve it simply by shining a cheap flashlight at the object to brighten it up.
The other problem with this is the shallow depth of field. It's so shallow that a slight shift and the object goes completely out of focus.
Boy, that was fun.

The Distorted Tower
One of the Petronas Twin Towers reflecting off the glass of another building nearby. The wavy and uneven surface of the glass created a distorted effect on the tower.

Pick A Fruit
Malaysia's Petaling Street (Chinatown) is not just famous for cheap imitation goods, but also for its wide variety of food available. Seen here are a pair of young ladies picking out some fruits from one of the stalls.

Jack
Jack is a mixed breed male, and happens to be my dog's brother. A close friend of mine adopted Jack, so I have many opportunities to visit and see how Jack's doing.

Jambatan Seri Wawasan
For those who don't understand Malay, "Jambatan" means bridge. Yes this photo is of a bridge in Malaysia (in Putrajaya to be precise).

Petaling Street : A Friend From My Memories
This bespectacled gentleman has been manning this sidewalk stall for over the past 15 years. I remember buying newspapers and magazines from him during my younger days when I used to study in a small college in the area (which moved to a better location a couple of years after I graduated). It was nice to see him again after all these years. And he hasn't changed very much.

Petaling Street
A typical scene in Petaling Street where locals and tourists alike bargain with entrepreneurs for the best price on a wide variety of goods ranging from leather products to Russian binoculars.
Be warned, if you don't intend to buy anything, don't ask for the price. Look, smile and walk off if you're not interested, lest you want to be bombarded by foul words uttered in a local dialect.
If you do intend to buy something, haggle over the price. All the electronics, watches, clothing and material products here are fakes.
This practice does not apply to foodstuff however. From my experience, food in Petaling Street is cheap already.
