BN Flaglines

Rows and rows of blue-coloured flaglines bearing the Barisan Nasional (BN) political party logo are seen all over the town during the recent General Elections 2008.

BN flags and posters easily swamp campaign material from opposition parties, who have much tighter budgets to work with. Despite this show of strength, BN still lost 5 states to Opposition parties (a loose coalition of PAS, DAP and PKR). They also managed only a simple majority in Parliament. This is BN's worst performance since 1969.
